IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE

Every mother walks into the hospital hoping for a safe birth. Too many walk out with a birth that went wrong because of the care itself: pressure, protocols, rushed decisions and interventions that cascade into emergencies. Some babies need lifelong care. Many mothers carry the trauma home.

NOT THE NURSES. NOT THE DOCTORS. THE SYSTEM.

The doctors and nurses in our hospitals are tired and stretched thin, and most of them care deeply. They are bound by policy, insurance rules, liability fears and time limits. The people at the bedside are not the enemy. The system above them is.

THE NUMBERS

About 1 in 3 U.S. babies is born by cesarean (32.4% in 2024). CDC National Vital Statistics

About 1 in 100 U.S. hospital deliveries involved severe maternal morbidity in 2021. AHRQ HCUP Statistical Brief #312

WHAT CHANGE LOOKS LIKE

  • Restore informed refusal in every guideline.

  • Protect traditional midwifery and families who choose it.

  • Safe, respectful transfers from home to hospital.

  • Hospitals publish what they have on site, like blood and anesthesia.

  • Emergency birth medications as easy to reach as an AED.
