FEDERAL INITIATIVES

Through direct meetings and formal submissions to HHS, NATBR has initiated federal-level engagement on the protection of traditional midwifery. In addition to submitting a formal position statement and a 23-page briefing packet, we have received direct acknowledgment and thanks from Secretary Kennedy and Dr. Dorothy Fink. Ongoing discussions with MAHA leadership include participation in an upcoming Women’s Health conference, with invitations to contribute to speaker and panel development. Federal engagement is active and continuing daily.

The Federal Initiatives Advisory Panel is a national group of midwives, physicians, attorneys, and maternal health advocates who gather weekly to submit data, testimony, and case examples related to birth rights and the protection of traditional midwifery. Their role is to inform federal strategy and help identify future policy language and national initiatives as efforts expand.
